Ribalta

1 mention

A few weeks ago, I had the best wine of my life at Ribalta. It was a red wine and the bottle was around $80 or so.

To ball out I'd slug a couple dirty martinis before dinner and get a real nice bottle of red with dinner.

martini is excellent but so is their espresso martini and red wine selection.

Roberta’s

1 mention

I may be really basic but all I want is a decent dine in pizza place where they have a really good line management system (if you can’t book) and the wait is less than 40 mins. And the pizza is puffy and tasty and you can get a good glass of red. So in the 3 years I have lived here, that is Milkflower and Roberto’s.

Roscioli

The wine pairings were a mixed bag - a lot of effervescence, with a particularly weak lumbrusco in round two - but the real red wines in courses 3 and 4 made it all worth it.

Chambers

Chambers has a red and white each BTG for $10, plus a $15 sparking option. And more than half of their BTG list is under $20. And considering who their somm is, I trust each of those selections.

Strip House

I would probably go to Strip house and sit in the corner with a really decent bottle of red wine and a medium rare porterhouse.

I think the only good thing I have to say about this place is that their wine pours are generous, but I wasn’t a fan of the offerings (too many acidic reds and flavorless whites), so that wasn’t really any consolation.
