  • replying to u/crazeman: I'd give Xin Fa at 8th ave a shot. They're very well known for their (Portuguese) egg tart. Haven't been there a while but people used to CLAMOR for them, like the second they come out of the kitchen. I think you can call ahead and preorder them if you plan on getting a bunch. Lily Bloom are their sister bakeries and they serve the same/similar egg tarts. They have 2 locations in Brooklyn. Also maybe worth checking out, there's a new Na Tart that opened up in Chinatown. They do a fancier egg tarts but personally I found them to be very meh. I got a original and another one with dried pork floss on top. The dried pork floss is a terrible idea because the pork floss exploded and fell apart as soon as I took a bite. Also not loving paying $4 for an egg tart lol.

I also really didn’t like Na Tart, I found them to be really dry and the custard is overcooked. Despite only specializing in one thing, they do not do them well

I hate Na Tart. I think a "modern"/fancy egg tart is a great idea but it's poorly executed and expensive.

I'm also not a huge fan of Na Tart.
