replying to u/master_and_jaguar: u/kungflew- YES!! same Gogyo, same founder (Shigemi Kawahara from Ippudo) 🔥 you're right - Tokyo locations closed (Roppongi, Yoyogi-Uehara) but Kyoto and Fukuoka original are still there.. they've been expanding internationally (Hong Kong, Australia) and this NYC spot just opened in October. and YES they have the burnt shoyu!! i got the kogashi miso but now i need to go back for the shoyu after your comment so glad they're back instead of disappearing completely 🙏

replying to u/KruppJ: Gogyo recently opened and they’re more on the upscale side of things but they have a lot of more unique broths I haven’t seen at other spots here.
