replying to u/OrphanDad: Went to Omakase by Korami and found it to be super underwhelming. Pros: Service was great everyone is super friendly, its an intimate space, its a lot of food I think 16 pieces total Cons: Quality was not great. I wanted a the experience to feel a bit warmer and less manufactured than other spots so we opted for this over Shinn West. While we got just what we wanted in terms of experience, the lack of quality overshadowed everything. Nothing really tasted that great, and aside from the farm raised salmon with Foie Gras, everything was unimaginative and lacking flavor. They don't put as much care into the food as other places I have been to. No special or seasonal fish. When we went to Masu recently, every piece was enjoyable and it was even hard to pick a favorite one. With Korami, nothing really stood out. at $89pp we were disappointed. I think Sushi W at $53 would have been a better experience. At a similar price point and not too far, Masu & One Bite Omakase are much better IMO. I will say that it was a lot of food and we were very full afterwards.

replying to u/RedHawk02: Fwiw, I enjoyed Shiki Omakase far more than Shinn East and they're about the same price. I think those two dominate the cheaper sphere of omakase experiences but there are definitely others I'd like to try. I also love Sushi W. Wouldn't recommended Sushi Lab, Sushi by M, or Sushi by Bou although I would probably go to another Bou location for the vibes alone. They roped us into staying for drinks afterwards with a free drink and we ended up having a great conversation with the bartender and he went nearly 1:1 on offering free drinks as we were buying more.

replying to u/Strange1130: Seconding (thirding, fourthing?) Shinn East. It was my first Omakase and so good. We also did Fuku, a relatively new spot that was BYOB at the time and I liked a lot (the monkfish liver piece was fire), and Sushi W which had the nicest ambience of the three in terms of like interior design but kinda felt more rushed / inpersonal for some reason (not the hugest deal at this price point and seating time but felt worth noting)
