replying to u/Deez2Yoots: I disagree. Twenty years ago the waiter said “we don’t cook for Irish mothers” when someone in my party asked for well done. Now, granted, eating well done steak is a no no, but that’s a crazy comment.

replying to u/elenafoxx: I don’t think anything on this list is all that great except for Ansel which really does have wonderful pastries and baked goods.. I Sodi is a neighbourhood staple but the rest are pretty run-of-the-mill. The bagel and dumpling places aren’t the type of places worth planning for it’s somewhere to grab a bite if you happen to be in the area… as someone who used to live here why go to Juniors and Eileen’s very touristy and you can have better cheesecake at lots of nice restaurants that don’t specialize in it… Lysee in Flatiron is a very nice dessert spot and nicer ambience than Juniors. Agree with the commenter recommending baked goods at Smor and Librae although I love the cardamom buns at La Cabra. There’s also Sunday Morning in the area for cinnamon rolls. Dead Rabbit is iconic but a bit less exciting these days- while you’re in FiDi they have a nice 63rd floor roof bar at Manhatta which is a staple in the area and Overstory which was named one of the best in the city lovely views but they prebatch too much for my liking still a lovely bar to visit. Also nice drinks at the Printemps Dept store on Wall which a lot of tourists like to visit and a speakeasy in the Seaport “Little Shop” behind a bodega.. Thai Villa is nice for the ambience; Sappe and Soothr have quirky decor and Wayla is very popular. Quality Bistro is perfectly fine if you work in the area but maybe not a place to have on a must visit list when you only have a few days… if you’re looking for iconic Qualit…
