  • the best cheesesteak here is the cheesesteak hoagie from Peppino’s in Brooklyn. It’s not exactly like from Philly but it’s its own awesome thing.

My go-to is the Special Cheesesteak with mushrooms and red peppers!

  • replying to u/Flaste: They will also make the sandwich with vodka sauce if you ask!

I love their house sauce and they're always super accommodating if you ask for extra sauce (I'm a dipper!)

  • replying to u/AdeGamisou2020: Gino's hasn't been good in quite some time. Peppino's is ok.  For Bay Ridge there are much better options depending on how much you want to spend and what your want to eat. I'm partial to Piccante and Amuni, if you're looking for more upscale there's Terina.  And while I'm not the biggest fan and think it's a bit overrated people really seem to love Brooklyn Roots.  And if you want nearby, Il Colosseo has good old school Italian as does Ortobello.

i had a great pizza and a few apps at peppinos.

  • Peppino’s in Bay Ridge, Julianna’s, John’s of Bleecker Street, L&B, Bleecker Street, Scarr’s, Unregular and Joe’s (which is absolutely top-tier)

  • replying to u/thenumbersthenumbers: I’m orig from Philly. Sorry to say it but all the Federoff’s stans don’t know shit. It’s like ChatGPT created a bad amalgamation of what it thought a Philly cheesesteak actually was. Not only is it overly salty and kinda bad… it costs more than a large pizza. But hot take: the best cheesesteak here is the cheesesteak hoagie from Peppino’s in Brooklyn. It’s not exactly like from Philly but it’s its own awesome thing. Trust me.

    Peppino’s fucking rocks

  • replying to u/xeothought: I somewhat recently tried both ... and I prefer Manchini's. Don't get me wrong, they're both great. But Manchini's is really one of the top regular slices in the city imo.

Luliano's and Peppino's are two more that I'm shocked I don't hear more people talk about.

  • replying to u/JayMoots: The margarita pie from Peppino’s is everything.  Or the pepperoni square from Nino’s, which rivals Prince Street.

This right here Peppinos is so slept on
