Ito

AI-generated summary

People disagree about Ito. Fans call it one of the most extravagant meals they've had and tell you to go here over the other omakase names. Others say it leans on uni, and wagyu instead of technique, and that Yoshino and Sho make better . One regular says it depends which chef you get.

  • replying to u/MrCakemeat: For me, the top tier, in no particular order is: -Yoshino -Noz -icca -Shion 69 Leonard Followed closely by (also not in any order) -Noz 17 -Ichimura -Nakaji -Ito To be fair I have not been to -The Den @ Azabu -Joji -Noda But have heard great things about all three.

To me, it’s a Miami-crowd spot with a previously popular chef who abandoned technique and opened a restaurant that has little to fall back on outside of uni, ikura, toro, and wagyu.

  • replying to u/tunitg6: While I agree with the vast majority of your list, I’m surprised that you’ve included Ito here. What about it is similar to the other restaurants you’ve listed? To me, it’s a Miami-crowd spot with a previously popular chef who abandoned technique and opened a restaurant that has little to fall back on outside of uni, ikura, toro, and wagyu. Definitely try The Den, especially the new 16-piece nigiri menu on Fridays and Saturdays with Head Chef Terado-san. It’s criminally underrated and under appreciated.

All this to say, good call, you’re right - it doesn’t belong on the same list as the others.
