“the food was great, only real complaint is for the bread dish they gave us 5 small pieces of bread, had fo ask for more cus they charged 10 bucks for it. Besides that tho food was really enjoyable.”

replying to u/TurtleThroughTime: There’s a lot of good reccs here, but I’m gonna throw one more into the mix. Oda House is great. Upper East Side so it’s easy for you to get to from queens and Manhattan. Really cozy, fantastic Georgian food, and the right vibe for what you’re looking for. The magic of NYC dining is finding a spot that feels homey and exciting and they nail it.

Didn't have a bad dish there and they had the best version or among the best versions of shkmeruli, ostri, and kupati with an excellent khachapuri and everything else was really solid also. The only spot better is deep in BK (Tone Cafe.) Chito is a but pricey and the portions are smaller than most other Georgian places but the food is pretty solid. I personally don't get how enamored everyone else with Chama. The food is fine but they're almost more of a Georgian wine bar and outside of their pretty solid khachapuri, I don't think the rest of the food is that good.

“Favorite Georgian spot as I've mentioned prior is Saperavi on East 14th. Their Khinkali are outstanding but the best dishes there are the Shkmeruli (roasted chicken in a ridiculously good garlic sauce) and their homemade Kupati (sausages.)”

replying to u/CabassoG: Khachapuri as noted. This specifically is the Adjaruli variant as its flat with an egg and butter which you mix into it. For spots, I would heavily recommend Saperavi/don't like Chama Mama though their khachapuri are alright. There's also Oda House for Manhattan with the best one being at Tone Cafe which is deep in Brooklyn. The old tasty cheap one was at CafeDelia but that place closed unfortunately

replying to u/foreverstarlit: I’m also from LA and the last time I brought my family out here, my mom and sister were obsessed with Fish Cheeks. I know there’s a lot of great Thai in LA, but the food at Fish Cheeks is unique to what I’ve had in LA. They were here for a week and we went for their first meal upon landing and for their last meal before they left!

replying to u/Wonderful-Bother1321: People love to take their parents to Nice Matin. I have had a drink there, I haven’t had the food, but it looks good and the place is always packed. I also heard La Sirene is good on the same block. I just took my mother to the Georgian restaurant Saperavi and she liked it.
