replying to u/Maleficent-Sir4824: Everyone knows Veselka, but not a lot of people know the Ukrainian East Village Restaurant (yes that's it's name, not very creative) which in my opinion is even better. It's literally directly around the corner from Veselka and is hidden away inside a building there that has several other Ukrainian related offices inside. You have to go down the hall to find it. “Love this spot. When I moved into EV I went to this spot first, then Veselka, and then never returned to Veselka. Better prices, imo better food. Their stroganoff is one of my favorite cold/rainy weather comfort foods”

replying to u/thelionqueen1999: I’m probably going to get skewered for saying this, but I absolutely hated the pierogis I tried from Veselka in Grand Central. I got a 12-piece that I payed almost $30 for, and the pierogis ranged from tasting incredibly bland to having a weird aftertaste that I just couldn’t get over. I think I ate like, 5 pieces before I decided that I couldn’t stomach the rest, so I tossed it into the trash. Haven’t been back to Veselka since.

I know there’s a lot of great Thai in LA, but the food at Fish Cheeks is unique to what I’ve had in LA. They were here for a week and we went for their first meal upon landing and for their last meal before they left!
