I had looked into Time Out Market a bit, but saw a lot of mixed reviews on that. Superfine and Randolph's look fantastic for our purposes (husband loves a brewery). Thank you for the Noodle Pudding recommendation -- I'll add that to the list of options to present to my husband, lol. I'm sorry if I wasn't more clear/specific on willingness to travel -- Yes, though I'd like to keep to to something like 30 - 40 min subway, ideally, but willing to go further if there's something fantastic + a good area to spend some time in. I understand Brooklyn is huge. For example, I was willing to go up to Williamsburg on Friday because it seems very, well, trendy. So I figured we could go to Lilia for early dinner and have plenty of options to stroll around, find a few bars, find a good ice cream shop or other place for dessert, etc.
