replying to u/dimundsareforever: My favorite omakase is Ikumi in SoHo. Italian is honestly San Carlo Osteria Piemonte. Two places you probably won’t find on anyone’s lists but that I really consider top tier from a food standpoint.

replying to u/blueannajoy: For Italian food, I would add San Carlo Osteria Piemonte: battuta di Fassona (raw chopped steak), Vitel Tonné (veal in tuna sauce) and Bagna Càuda (an amazing veggie dip made of anchovies and garlic)

replying to u/Piedude223: Rezdora imo, been to I Sodi, Rezdora, and Via Carota. Trying to get a res for Torrisi. Rezdora was simply delicious, and the tasting menu was great (against popular opinion). I still remember the final ravioli dish with their aged balsamic. I didn't get the overly salty complaints other redditors have. Although I will note, the tasting menu did not have "Grandma walking through the forest." I hear a la carte is the better bet. I want to go again this first half of the year and see if that's true lol. Their Stracciatella starter with fett'unta and olive oil cake dessert were also fantastic. Get a nice glass of Lambrusco too. Not to say I Sodi and Via Carota aren't good, don't get me wrong. But Rezdora was really something special for me, and the service was leagues above them. I did really enjoy my limone pasta at I Sodi and the Cacio e Pepe at Via Carota (best in the city), but I Sodi felt more like a neighborhood restaurant than a destination and Via Carota didn't really wow me like Rezdora did.
