replying to u/donut_butt: For me, the gold standard of chicken salad sandwiches was from Eisenberg's. I don't think I was as floored by S&P's chicken salad, but some of that may have been due to the passage of time. So I'd still recommend S&P and Court Street Grocer for this.

replying to u/bluetruedream19: As a southerner who is headed to NYC next month I have a hard time believing that Magnolia really makes a better banana pudding than my husband’s Memphis born & bred grandma. I’m glad to be wrong but it would feel weird to wait in a line for pudding. We’re trying to try things that we just don’t have in our area. Jewish delis, NYC style pizza, international cuisine (especially Greek/Middle Eastern), an egg cream, a proper BEC, etc. I’m also certain that an average NYC bagel is much better than what we can get.
