replying to u/brttvnyy: Sukh and Untable in Brooklyn are great Thai restaurants to try. Fish Cheeks is another must try restaurant, they now have a location in Brooklyn but their OG location is in Manhattan. Outside of Brooklyn, I would suggest Soothr (Manhattan and Queens), Saranrom (Queens), Mitr (Manhattan) and Sappeisan (Manhattan) for Thai. This is a very short list, but places I think are worth starting with. For Caribbean restaurants, I would suggest Trinciti (Queens) and A&A Doubles (Brooklyn). Both places are take out/no frills. What other cuisines are you interested in?

replying to u/rumfortheborder: as a thai food fan, thai diner really isn't interesting to me in the least. muted flavors, instagram interior, insufferable staff. rather go to som tum der and have better food with nicer people. or untable if you want something a little further afield.

replying to u/WaterFalls-: When I visited Sukh, they had three vegetarian appetizers and only one vegetarian entree (which funnily enough wasn't marked V). They have fish / oyster sauce in almost all of their mains which can't be removed---even if marked with the V.
