replying to u/whiteflillies: tbh for basic tteokbokki I would just make it at home. The ingredients are cheap and accessible and the recipe is fairly simple. You could also buy frozen ones in a variety of styles at Hmart. Most restaurants versions, especially in Manhattan ktown, are just overpriced and nothing special imo. A true “street vendor” style is kind of hard to find in NYC tbh, nowhere really has that kind of infrastructure. The only thing I can think that comes kinda close is maybe at Hanyang in Queens or at kimbap/bunsik places. Alternatively, you could do a more ayce/byo casserole style like at places like Which Topokki, The Basac, Sodam, etc. There’s also Yupdduk — kind of similar to what you could get as delivery in Korea — but I haven’t been there so can’t comment if it’s any good. For rosé or other newer styles you want to look for modern/fusion style pochas like +82 Seoul, Firefly, Anytime Kitchen, Plan B, Seoul Salon, etc.
