  • When vegetarian friends visit I always take them to Bodhi Kosher Vegan Chinese in Chinatown. Their imitation roast pork (I think it’s seitan) is very good and it’s fun to be able to go with a crew of both vegetarians and meat eaters and know everyone can eat everything.

  • For Bodhi btw, I would heavily recommend their take on roasted char siu which is listed as Roasted BBQ Meat.

  • replying to u/CornettoAlCioccolato: One of the trends in NY right now is Italian-style-Italian (as opposed to Italian-American), but I’d be inclined to skip it coming from Europe. - Italian-American sandwiches. Grab a sandwich at Faicco’s or Parm - If you like sushi, do an omakase somewhere. I’ve enjoyed Yokox, Shinzo, and Fuku, but there are a million others. - Mexican food. The Birria-Landia truck (several locations) is awesome. On the fancier end, I’ve enjoyed Casa Enrique - Probably would also get some Chinese, but someone else here can give much better recs than me.

Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian is all vegan, but the BBQ Meat and Cabbage, dry fried string beans, and shrimp dim sum are all stellar and please my meat eating friends.

  • It was $6.50 for 3 small buns, and satisfied my craving relatively well but what I still really want is one larger bao which would be like $1.50-$2 if it did exist. They also just weren't my favorite filling compared to veggie bao I've had before.
