replying to u/xelnaga121: It's a good point, $100 doesn't go too far these days but yes in this group, those that are interested enough to take the gift card would be happy to cover the rest of the bill. Also not everyone drinks, so the $100 would stretch farther for those folks. Dessert wine is a unique idea! I'll look into that. I was considering some sort of fancy dessert as well, so I like where you're going with the Kuih Cafe mooncake, though I didn't realize they'd be doing that now when it's not moon festival time. Will take a look.

replying to u/thansal: I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but SE Asian desserts aren't super common here, but there's a few really good options for them: * Khao Nom - Twee little Thai restaurant with a focus on desserts (used to only be desserts). I always get tokyo pandan, the little coconut/pandan puddings, and a shaved ice (in the fridge at the back, grab one and they'll offer to put it over ice for you). I suggest getting a meal somewhere lese (maybe just around the corner at Khao Kang) and then coming here for dessert. Their savory food is good, but not as good as some of the other near by options. * Lady Wong - A bit of a mix of SE Asian and European in a lovely little store front. * Kuih Cafe - I (still) haven't been yet, but they're supposed to be excellent for Malay desserts. For "I only know one place to get this" there's Keki for Japanese style cheese cakes and Pink Lady for their tarts (it's in a cookie shell w/ a molten filling). I think Chickalicious Dessert Bar is still open, they're a dessert tasting menu. I still mourn the death of their other shop. Angelina Paris - world famous hot chocolate. As said, Serendipity is really about style over substance (they have multiple Guiness records for "most expensive <thing>", which mostly revolves around gold leaf), but it is also an old piece of NYC, and their desserts are certainly spectacular.
