Get the FDNY, , the one most people name. The godmother and the eggplant special come up too, and the sandwiches are big enough to split. People say the prices have nearly doubled in a few years. The hot ones can come out wet with the bread falling apart, and plenty prefer Emily's Pork Store for a cold .

  • replying to u/donut_butt: Anthony and Sons in WB has thin cutlets, though they’ll stack them on a sandwich. There’s also Emily’s Pork Store down the street, but the breading browning is a little more consistent at Anthony and son’s Fair warning: people on this sub don’t like Anthony and Sons because the price has gone up and it’s a popular place, but having lived in Williamsburg 13 years, I think it’s the best option open in the neighborhood today. (RIP Lorimer Market)

I have tried this place a few times and every time it’s been disappointing. Specifically the hot sandwiches come out too wet, the bread is too soft and disintegrates and the cutlets don’t stay crisp IME.

The Anthony & Sons hype train never made any sense to me. The prices have nearly doubled in 3 years, the ingredients are mid-tier, and they just don’t taste as good as so many other establishments.
