replying to u/justflipping: Okiboru is a great choice for ramen/tsukemen. They also have a sister restaurant for udon (Okiboru House of Udon) that serves a hard to find wide flat udon. Ichiran is okay. Other better Manhattan options are: - nonono - Ishida - Nakamura - Tabetomo

Momofuku we did before. pp probably $150-$200 limit. doesn't have to be a set menu but open to course menus. no dietary restrictions, and not upscale fine dining as we want a very jovial vibe. I am eyeing up SEA by Jungsik and just sharing a bunch of plates, to give you an idea.

replying to u/thansal: NONONO is just off of KTown for Japanese skewers, ramen and other small plates (actually run by Hand, who're Korean, but whatever). I know you said not Italian, but Pizza isn't Italian, it's Italian American - Pizza Suprema, one of my favorite options. While the plain slice is great, it's better value to get a gussied up slice. Good option for the progressive lunch, eat that as you walk to NONONO for skewers. Also in KTown are Food Gallery 32 and Woorjip, again, Korean (mostly), but a pretty different side from the fine dining world, and again, good for progressive. replying to u/DinerEnBlanc: Ivan Ramen makes a great bowl of Shio (clear chicken broth), but my personal fav is NoNoNo’s Shio Paitan (thicker cloudy broth). Both are great, so I suppose you can pick based on your preference. I lean towards the latter when it’s cold/rainy out.
