replying to u/Unlikely-Guess3775: Depends on how deep you want to go. Some of my faves: - Doaba Deli or Raja Sweeets for paranthe. Also try the kadhi pakora at Raja Sweets - Ruby Ke Kitchen Se in Jersey (if you have access to a car) for Rajasthani dishes like daal baati churma and gatte ki sabzi. Probably my favorite single Indian restaurant in the region - For South Indian, if you don't mind waiting in line, the thatte idli at Brooklyn Curry Project are great (and it's the only place that makes them). Their dosa is not my favorite, but still good. Favorite dosa is at Sapthagiri in Jersey City, and honestly Saravanaa Bhavan's is not horrible even if that's a "basic" answer. Temple Canteen is okay, but a bit overhyped for what it is - Honest for pav bhaji, and vada pav is not bad either - Rowdy Rooster for their vada pav - Angel for their paneer tikka and Indo-Chinese paneer - they make their paneer in house and it's very good - Hot Breads in Jersey City for their live pani puri station. Not hard to get to at all by PATH train, it runs as frequently as the subway, just take it to Journal Square - Kailash Parbat used to have amazing Bombay-style Sindhi dishes, but I think their management has changed and it's gone downhill - i'm sad to see they no longer have hard-to-find items like dal pakwan on the menu. But still probably one of the best places for chaat in the city. Otherwise, Mithaas in Jersey City is also a good bet - Bikanerwala in Jersey City for some of their sabzis - in particular I love thei…
