replying to u/justflipping: Yea the pineapple version is supposed to be sweet because of the sugar crust on top. The OG is much less sweet without it. Mei Lai Wah’s has a higher fat content nowadays, which personally I still like but is not for everyone. With these super hyped places, not everyone will fit the common opinion. And that’s okay. For less fat ratio, you may like Ho Won Bake Shoppe, Tao Hong, and Golden Steamer.

replying to u/IlezAji: Goa Taco, the paratha tacos with fusion ingredients were so delightful and it’s a shame they closed years ago. Taco Mahal also does a great job with the concept though those are roti / naan based instead and they only do desi flavors. Either of them getting a bunch of locations would only be a boon. Also I feel like Golden Steamer’s operation could be scaled. Good quality affordable steam buns in a bigger variety than most of the other Chinese bakeries, what’s not to love?!
