Get the rotisserie chicken with the green sauce. People say they'd drink the green sauce, and Peruvian regulars back the chicken too. The matador combo feeds two or three, and the lunch special runs about $16 with a side and a drink. A few recent visits came out dry and underseasoned, but that's a small minority here.

  • replying to u/swankyoctopus: Pio Pio with their aji verde

Was very mediocre. Chicken was dry and the seasoning was nothing to remember. Maybe it was a bad day for them but it was pretty disappointing.

  • replying to u/danootsio: any old timers remember their original location on north side of street on Northern Boulevard - split level multi room? That place was amazing - felt like a never ending party. Prices were super cheap (i think the whole chicken was $8), the green sauce super spicy,, the jalea was piled high and the pisco sours were *strong*. Great memories.

Always delicious, but to date, the last time I ordered from the original location was THE best.

  • Brother and I are Peruvian, we go to Pio Pio 8 when we want to break our mom's heart and eat someone else's saltado.

  • Pio pio and Tu Casa (in Queens) has great peruvian chicken although it could be the green sauce!

  • My wife and I went to Pio Pio last night and got their mixto ceviche. It was tasty enough but the quantity left us wanting (we went for the chicken, but was reminded of ceviche when we looked through the menu).

  • replying to u/Prize-Dot171: Pio Pio in Hell's Kitchen! There are other Pio Pio locations, but this is a larger location that might be convenient since it's in Manhattan. They have several kinds of ceviches (and a lot of other delicious dishes too).

The ceviche is OK but the Aji de gallina was honestly insultingly bad. The chicha was OK. The desserts were good and I’ll give them that.
