replying to u/exc3113nt: Consider this: Apartment 4f in Brooklyn Heights is yummy. I like it. But I live in the neighborhood so sometimes I happen to pass it when there's no line. It's not worth it (for me) to stand in line down the block to wait to get in. So when I tell someone it's not worth waiting in line for, it's more guidance for them to put it on their docket and visit when the timing works out. My personal opinion is that it's not worth waiting a long time for ANY food. I'll invest time in a commute, e.g. going to Jackson Heights, but not to physically stand in line watching other people eat.

Radio is near me, and I love a cheeky rhubarb custard, but only if the wait is 15 mins. I feel like I keep ordering the wrong thing at Apartment 4F, because nothing has blown my socks off

replying to u/some1105: As one of the people who thinks their croissants are awful, I would say this is a bit hyperbolic, just that it’s not at all worth the hype, and anyone extolling their croissants is showing their ass. Their baguettes are fine. Other places sell worse things. The owners are an Instagram-cute couple running an Instagram-cute shop on a stretch of Montague Street that really needed something to bring some visitors. It’s a perfectly bucolic little place to take a selfie with your sodden raspberry croissant and latte and then settle in for a quiet morning in good lighting pretending to flip through whatever that Four Arms or Legs book is that everyone else claim to be reading. Just know what you’re getting yourself into. It’s not good pastry. It’s a ticking off of an influenster experience, if that’s what you’re into (I’m not), or to grab a coffee if you’re boycotting Starbucks.
