replying to u/LeadingGuide693: Wah Fung is the spot for cheap, my god it use to be 2 dollars for a rice box and the old guy would pack the thing down. Noodletown is still the place to go for late night, just had it like 2 days ago, hits the spot. Kings Kitchen is my overall favorite, they have one in Chinatown and a bunch in Brooklyn. Hayhay is okay, they ask you for lean, half/half, or fatty. Sometimes they miss and just give you lean but it’s still good. Big Wong is a spot I go to when I’m just lazy, it’s a Chinatown staple, but nothing there really stands out. Dimsum Sam is okay, hit or miss.

replying to u/crazeman: A lot of people's congee preference depends on the consistency of the congee. Like some of them can be really thick and creamy and have most of the rice broken down (I THINK Cantonese prefer to have them creamier). Others might like them more thin and grainy. Note that I'm not a congee expert and I only get congee like once a year so I don't have it often enough to judge and compare the consistency between congee shops. \--- Big Wong is my favorite for congee. Most people go for their roasted meats but IMO their roasted meat is about the same quality as most roasted meat spots but their congee is low key the star. I always go for the roasted duck congee here. They put in the leftover duck drippings and it's chock full of roasted duck flavor. It's actually more flavorful and enjoyable than their actual roast duck. \--- Noodle Village is also supposedly very good. I have a uncle who used to work as a street vendor in Chinatown and that was always his go to spot for congee. His spot was across the street from current day Xi'an Famous food so it was equidistance from Big Wong and Noodle Village and he always went to Noodle Village lol. I think the consistency of the congee here suits my family the best. \--- Yin Ji Chang Fen (multiple locations) might be worth checking out. Supposedly they are a famous congee/rice noodle chain from China. I've tried it but their congee didn't really jump out at me as amazing or memorable.

replying to u/copyotter: Beef Chow Fun has been a favorite of mine since childhood. Wide noodles, not spicy. I’ve gotten it from Noodletown, Wu’s Wonton King, Hop Lee, Wo Hop and e-Noodle and they’ve all tasted good.
