Una Pizza Napoletana

5.5/10

AI-generated summary

The dough is the draw and the reason people call this the best in the country. It's also the complaint. A lot of people say the pie is mostly crust, the sauce and cheese are thin, and $40 or more for a isn't worth it. Reservations go fast and waits run long, so the common advice is to book the first seating. The sorbetto gets loved either way.

  • the concetta will always be top for me. Its the airiness, chewiness, softness of the crust w the perfect tomato flavor for me.

Not sure if it has to do with all the titles of best pizza in New York, US, planet, galaxy type marketing I saw everywhere but my friend and I were shocked how tasteless the dough was. I NEVER leave the crusts uneaten with Neapolitan pizza but it felt like empty calories eating the completely tasteless bread. I truly believe song e napule serves a much better margarita pizza. Go easy on the attacks!

Not only is the dough tasteless, they won’t even give you some olive oil to dip it in because “the chef wants you to experience the crust as is” and meanwhile it’s like half the freaking pie. I loathe this place.

I waited for 2 weeks after making a reservation, I traveled an hour to get there from Queens, I waited 30-40 minutes for two small-ish pizzas and a small beer - and I paid _$90_ for just that, with tip. And it was an OK pizza in the end. The dough was good, the ingredients were decent.  Overall the closest thing to Neapolitan pizza you can get in NYC likely. But holy cats was that pizza the most overhyped nonsense I've ever bothered with. It's not even the best pizza in _New York_, let alone the world. 50 Kaló blows this pizza out of the water without a second thought.  Hell, even the London-based 50 Kaló (let alone the Roman or Neapolitan restaurants) is better by a mile.  Truly a disappointing experience.

I'm not a huge neopolitan fan to start but this was actually wet and just completely flavorless.

We weren't rushed, but the staff are incompetent. Didn't seat us for almost 20 mins after our res time despite lots of empty tables (and wouldn't tell us what was going on or when we'd be seated), our waitress had to take our order 3 times because she kept forgetting, and then they tried us give us pizza we didn't order.
