Red Hook Tavern

AI-generated summary

The is the whole reason to go. It's dry-aged and simple, and people love the grilled onion and the peppery crust. Order it medium, since medium rare comes out closer to rare. The are the common complaint, a small pile and pretty mid next to a $29 . A minority finds the too salty and too plain.

Redhook Tavern hamburger sandwiches are very boring. And this is by design; they want you to enjoy the quality of their burger without anytime else getting in the way. And for some people that's enough! But for me, I found it disappointing

to me it was on par with Minetta Tavern. Both are amazing burgers that let the patty's flavor do the work rather than smothering it with sauces.

  • That doesn't look good for 36 dollars. No onions, lettuce, or tomatoes? One pickle? Is that crap what they call fries?

  • This was the best burger we had. Just an unbelievable first bite. The juicy patty, crisp bread - pop of the onion. Perfection. Wish we could've gone back. No notes.

  • replying to u/rt136: How does it compare to Minetta Tavern? Love their burger for the huge patty with just caramelized onions and fries. Smash patties with a million toppings don’t do it for me.

I generally like caramelized onions, but this one didn't need it. Tons of smokey umami from the dry aged meat.
