  • We really enjoyed the sandwiches. The focaccia was perfect, crispy, and light. But the croissants were such let downs :( I was really expecting to be blown away because people hype up their pastries so much but they were okay at best.

  • replying to u/dr_beefnoodlesoup: im a huge fan of radio bakery, been there every weekend for the past month, everything i got there is world class

The focaccia sandwiches are fire - I think they’re the best I’ve had in NYC. The pastries are good, but not worth the hype imo

  • the pistachio croissant and the brown butter corn cake were absolutely delicious. I will say the chocolate croissant was just okay. I'd definitely go back and try more!

  • replying to u/bcsock: Shhh don't tell everyone!! The spicy tofu is also delicious, but if I had to choose, I'm going turkey/kale/pesto every time. Make sure you have a napkin handy! That focaccia will have you leaving fingerprints on everything.

the spicy tofu is delicious. love the chili crisp and sesame sauce, love the crunch from the cabbage. I think it's my favorite sandwich in the city.

  • replying to u/Possible-Source-2454: Radio bakery has like the perfect hybrid of both

I just recently went there and had this and it changed my life. It was made out of flaky phyllo-like pastry with a honey-tasting glaze and oh my god my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

  • Radio is good, but not that good - not in a city with so many amazing bakeries.

  • replying to u/westsideGumm: Radio Bakery is amazing

They have the best focaccia in the city and it's not even close. The sourdough, the fermentation, the contrasting textures, it's some of the best I've ever had.

  • I also really like their spicy tofu sandwich. I don't typically go for tofu, but the combination of the chili oil, sesame ginger sauce, and the crunch from the cabbage make it a perfect sandwich in my eyes.

  • replying to u/postmodern_purview: Well the tofu sandwich was pretty good anyways! Might go back next time for that. But yes, there was little selection. They did still have their pistachio croissants and corn cakes but we opted for other baked goods.

I'm a huge fan of the tofu sandwich and agree with you about the chili oil. I think the brown butter corn cake is really underrated and would recommend giving it a try if you ever go again. The Greenpoint location has earl grey morning buns instead of the matcha ones at the Prospect Heights location, and they're probably my favorite out of everything Radio makes.

Radio Bakery should be a case study on what *not* to do. I should preface this with I LOVE DADIO BAKERY but their steak sandwich w chimichurri does not belong on their focaccia - it just falls apart. Flavors are great!

  • replying to u/FuelledOnRice: Radio Bakery is insanely good, I went twice on my week stay in NYC

I strongly disagree. Their pastries are too sweet - way too much sugar and their croissants suck. Their focaccia and lemon pastries are decent.

  • Radio Bakery is overhyped. I will give them their lunch sandwiches, by far their best item and probably one of the best things you can get in the city.

  • replying to u/TerriblyRare: the sandwiches at Radio Bakery are the highlight imo, yes the desserts are phenomenal but the soft focaccia and fresh ingredient sandwiches are hard to beat.

I wanted to love that roast beef one of theirs...but I feel like it belongs on a sturdy baguette, not on the focaccia (which is delicious) but ends up falling apart and becomes an absolute nightmare to eat.

  • replying to u/Maleficent_Guide_727: I don’t understand the hype of radio. I’ve gone 4 times to try an assortment of things and everything has been…. Mid or below. Twice baked pistachio croissant is extremely dry and lacks depth. Double chocolate croissant is extremely dry, but well laminated. The brown butter cake is nice, but just nice. Also quite dry. The morning bun was well made but also lacked depth or richness. Maybe it’s an excellent bakery for savory items? But truly, I’d give it a skip.

I think you’ve tried their worst items unfort. I agree the double choc croissant is such a big letdown and even less chocolatey than a regular pain au chocolat… but if you give the the seasonal danish/croissants a try I think you won’t be disappointed. It’s always changing and I’ve tried the tomato with corn pudding, apple brown butter, or even french onion and all are absolutely delightful!

  • replying to u/Sensitive_Sense8823: love love love croissants. My top are: * La Cabra - love Pain Suisse and chocolate croissants there * Supermoon Bakehouse in LES - they are famous for their unique monthly flavors. They have spectacular croissants (although they are on more crunchier side, but still very delish) * Breads bakery (they have multiple locations) - their chocolate croissants are the best in the city imo - so flavorful, flaky, buttery! * Tall Poppy in Chelsea - their plain croissant is bomb. The rest are..hmm...interesting :) * Librae - I like plain croissants there. Rose pistachio while really nice and flavorful, they are soooo heavy. * Radio Bakery - I love their seasonal croissants and focaccias. If its convenient for you to go there, its def worth it. But I feel like there are so many good places with croissants in nyc that it doesn't really worth it for 40+mins commute there + wait in line. * Lapartment 4f - love their almond raspberry croissant. It's more on a sweeter side, but very nice with coffee. Love the tartness of raspberry there!

Ordered plain and pistachio croissants didn't feel like they were that good honestly. It was more pretty light and airy. Typically the butter will seep through the brown bag but this had hardly any. It was too healthy imo :)

  • replying to u/tiredprincess: Radio bakery is…fine. Some of their items are actually great. But a lot of their stuff is just okay! I think waiting 30 min to pay $13 for a pastry that is just okay is crazy.

The pastries are fine, wouldn’t go out of my way for them. The sleeper there is the sandwich selection. The tofu sandwich (sounds nuts) is incredible and they do a great American take on a jambon beurre

  • It IS amazing, but it’s a hard sell (at least for me) to wait 1+ hours in line for a marginally better pastry than one you get from other spots without the wait.

  • I would fly back solely for that mushroom croissant, it was incredible.

  • replying to u/NotActuallyAMnky: Radio is one of those places that is only worth it if you’re a local in the neighborhood and can go at an odd time on a weekday with no line. It IS amazing, but it’s a hard sell (at least for me) to wait 1+ hours in line for a marginally better pastry than one you get from other spots without the wait.

For me the pastries are pretty good but the sandwiches are stellar
