  • The steak and eggs is steak tartare served with caviar on the most delicious bread ever. I get it just for the bread, it steals the show.

Went to Cote for my friends birthday (guy who won't eat sushi),I loved it.

The food is great and the waiters are indeed excellent

Overall very happy. The meat was excellent. In particular the wagyu flatiron and the 45day dry age rib eye were amazing.

  • replying to u/Adept-Plantain-6767: Is it worth 225? And truly the best omakase in NY?

Going to Cote is 100% worth it.

  • replying to u/Clumsy_triathlete: And they are definitely not skimpy on bringing the accompaniments (Banchan) and really good about making guests feel welcome to ask for seconds. Also very delicious and not outshone by the meat.

it's crazy how good their banchan are.

  • Recently ate at Cote and felt disappointed especially if you account for the price of the food.

  • It is absolutely NOT worth it and it is 100% all hype. If you like KBBQ, this is the worst version of KBBQ. If you like a steakhouse it is the worst version of a steakhouse.

We waited 90 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Not so much as a complimentary drink at the bar, or even an apology. Never been back.

  • replying to u/Aggressive_Soil9090: also I was expecting more from Cote. I thought the quality was about the same as other kbbq

I've never understood the hype around Cote. Its trying so damn hard to be amazing KBBQ and fine dining-ish steak all at once, and its not doing either of them particularly well. There are plenty of KBBQ places that execute on a far higher level, and lots of steak places that are a far more enjoyable experience. The food isn't bad but its unremarkable. The service is incredibly mediocre.

  • It’s great but highly avoid the omakase. Much better doing the “Butcher’s Feast,” which is basically the meat tasting

  • replying to u/FastChampionship2628: There are some steakhouses that are casual - go to Quality Meats or Bowery Meat Company. Cote is upscale in terms of food and service, however you could still consider it because the vibe is not upscale at all. No tablecloths there. Minimalist atmosphere with cooking surface built into the tables. It's no Delmonico's or Wolfgangs that's for sure. Benches are not that comfortable though - so I would advise against it for that reason if you want more comfortable seating. A really casual spot is also Knickerbocker Bar and Grill.

I went to COTE and it’s not a place I’d recommend someone to try to get some steak. The standard recommended “butchers feast” is an experience of eating bites of steak and waiting for the next one to cook, and leaving full of sides and not very much steak if you’re a 200 pound man. The vibe is awesome though, and the bites of steak are good, but unless you’re ready to spend really big money on steak ala carte I’d say don’t come hungry.

  • I wasn’t particularly impressed with anything. Certainly wasn’t bad. The meats were good, but not any better than other Korean bbq places.

  • As a local to Queens Flushing area, I can promise you that the quality of experience/food does not fit the price. I've been to Cote on one occasion and will likely be my last.

  • replying to u/madmidget: I really hope I can land a reservation when I visit in january, I've been wanting to dine at cote for a while. Have you tried their steak omakase?

I did it a couple of months ago, and while it is really good meat, I personally don't think it is worth it.

  • replying to u/FastChampionship2628: I heard Cote uses really good quality meat, is it possible to get the meat without all the seasonings to enjoy the actual taste of the meat?

Really good quality meat and the way they present it before cooking is really nice too. Highly recommend.

  • I went with friends recently and found the service quite disappointing. Our waiter went incognito halfway through dinner and we had to flag down another waiter, who volunteered to help us out. Items arrived in the wrong order, with long wait times between dishes.

  • replying to u/DinerEnBlanc: I’m sure I’ll see some downvotes, but that statement is pure nonsense. In no way is Cote on par with an average KBBQ place.

I went into Cote thinking it might be overhyped but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food in the Butcher’s Feast and that it was only $70pp all said and done. Not bad at all price wise for a Michelin star and for the quality of the meat. It’s def a step above the average KBBQ place in NYC

  • I loved the sides more tbh………like the volcano egg, the stews and the banchan were all fantastic even the soy caramel vanilla soft serve at the end!

  • Unbelievable cocktails and a great ambiance - think rainforest cafe meets adult style and high end dining. It’s not clubby, so for a retirement party with a splash of fun and great food/drinks, the private room downstairs is stellar.

  • replying to u/inajigsaw: Cote isn’t very classic Korean BBQ. It’s more of a nice steakhouse, and the steak omakase is the only way to go. I don’t think it’s overrated. Food is delicious, steak quality is excellent, drinks are good, and vibes are fun.

I have to give cote credit tho for keeping the butchers feast at a very competitive price compared to other restaurants in the city that’ll forcefully upsell the menu once they get popular.

  • The epitome of Cote is a (not Korean) waiter trying to educate my (Korean) wife’s family on when to use ssamjang and what different banchan are until one of them puts his hands up in the air and goes “AHHH I AM KOREAN!”

  • The meat was chewy and all the sides fill you up instead of the steak. It felt like a bad steak tasting menu with barely any steak.

    H3

  • the actual food and service was magnificent. Every morsel was delicious and it felt very special and celebratory

  • replying to u/niiro117: Wish people would stop recommending Cote in posts about steakhouses. It’s a great restaurant, but it’s not a steakhouse. Yes, they call it that to distinguish it from the average Korean BBQ spot, but really… it’s a Korean bbq spot with great steak. Maybe I’m way off base, but if someone is asking for “steakhouse” recommendations they mean a traditional steakhouse: creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, etc.

the ambiance/quality of service/experience you get is that of a steakhouse’s- at least imo.

  • replying to u/Dammit_Jim: How come? I got some of their steaks to cook at home and they were great. But never ate there.

It’s primarily grilling meat—nothing exceptional about the sides, service, or drinks. Essentially, it’s paying up Korean BBQ, which I personally don’t even consider the best in that category. Even if the meat is of good quality, it’s somewhat average on its own.

  • Butcher feast at Cote is one of the best deals at a Michelin restaurant not just in NYC, but in the world, so this is a very strong pick in terms of affordability and it's a TON of food

    H2

  • More polished, trendy, Serve cocktails, slightly elevated Michelin level service Upstairs and downstairs bar for pre-drinks that Nubiani doesn’t have Feels like Korean BBQ crossed with a Michelin steakhouse Top quality steaks like wagyu

  • Herding people to the bar for the shameless upsell is so trashy and disrespectful to people. They did this to us at Cote and Cocodaq for 15-20 minutes, won’t be returning to either.
