  • We were pleased overall with the service and food. Started with a daily crudo special which was excellent, the had a sesame pork bun each. Highly recommend that, the hot mustard was fantastic.

  • All of them were great, especially the beef and broccoli, which was a hanger steak that's been marinated in their sauce (my pic does it zero justice).

  • replying to u/kyliejennerslipinjec: Not to be that asshole but this has already been asked on here numerous times and my answer (and others’) is always the same - it’s fine, not worth all the trouble it takes to get a reservation, and there are plenty of other Italian spots downtown and otherwise that are just as good if not better that don’t cater to the Instagram or the forced eXcLuSiViTy crowd

Everything was good, the duck was cooked to perfection. The pasta, better than most but not exceptional. The affogato was the highlight of the meal. Everything else was just good

  • I had the Japanese sardines special (best sardines I’ve ever tasted but so expensive at $38 for 2 sardines), the tortellini pomodoro were clouds and definitely do not miss the affogato.

  • I was so impressed last time I lunched there that they picked up on our vibe of being there to catch up with friends and let that lunch last HOURS.

  • replying to u/borderlinecourse: My God, you’re the first person I’ve seen agree with me on Torrisi — I’ve tried three times. Can’t get there.

Torrisi is wildly expensive and like, so unremarkable? That ravioli thing they are apparently known for came room temp with zero flavor. Do not understand the hype at all!

  • replying to u/Rejg: \- Keen's; not quite violent but certainly not my favorite compared to others. \- Monkey Bar; great atmosphere but worse food than Au Cheval / 4 Charles imo, and 4 Charles wins on atmosphere by a mile \- Torrisi; I could not get myself to love it \- Waverly Inn; good atmosphere but I've been \~3 times and the food has been edible at best \- Soothr; again not violent at all, I like it a lot actually. But Glur on 19th is absolutely delicious and better imo \- Minetta Tavern; worse burger than Au Cheval IMHO

Like, it’s fine, but why is everyone losing their minds over 7 plain cheese tortellini in tomato sauce for $31?
