replying to u/Top_Effort_2739: This hot take is 10 years out of date and probably based on some pedantic point that you gleaned from an Italian tourist trap trying to convince you to buy their overpriced doo doo with the secret ingredient (surprise! it’s sugar in the portafilter!) We have Sey. We won coffee. They’re a better roaster and shop than Wendleboe, Coffee Collective, Metric, Onyx, The Barn, Sightglass, Counter Culture, Ritual, Stumptown, Square Mile, Metropolis, Blue Bottle … and pretty much in that order. I’ve been roasting 20 years and Sey is the only one good enough that I basically just stopped. The baristas in NY are super high quality and we have more and better shops than anywhere in the country. Suited, Black Fox, Drip, 9th Street, Joe’s … I can’t name a better city for coffee
