It's nothing SPECIAL but NYC has been overridden by dunkin' donuts, there's only one or two old school donut shops left in NYC and Mike's is one of them.
Bay Ridge also have a big Middle Eastern/Arabic community so they have a shit ton of low key good restaurants from that region. The most popular spots is probably Tanoreen and Ayat.
The last time I was there, I saw a lot of small old restaurants lining down 3rd ave/5th ave, I feel like there's a lot of potential local "hidden gems" there (I'm not from Bay Ridge), maybe just walk down the Aves and try whichever shop that catches your eye?

I think [Kimchi Kooks Kate's Kitchen](https://maps.app.goo.gl/gmktjci7Fyi3HcPw7) is one of my favorite shop that I found from this subreddit. They specialize in homemade kimchi and also have a wide variety of other homemade ban chan dishes for sale too. I'm not Korean but I think they have one of the best kimchi in the city.
