  • But if you need recommendations maybe Lakou Cafe for Haitian, Pyza for Polish, La Fonda Boricua/Cuchifritos on 116th/Cocotazo for PR, Joe's of Ave U for Italian, Island Express on Flatbush for Guyanese

  • replying to u/niiro117: I would do Raising Cane’s or Chick-fil-a over Popeyes for your fried chicken fix, or go to Peaches Hot House if you want fast casual fried chicken that isn’t fast food. Popeyes in New York tend to be pretty gross. I’d do Los Tacos No. 1 or Taqueria Ramirez for fast casual Mexican. Chipotle, especially in New York, is not great. I’d do 7th Street burger, or Gotham Social for smash burgers over Shake Shack. But Shake Shack is fine. Outside of that, go to a diner, almost any will do. Golden Diner, or B&H Dairy are good ones. Get bagels. Frankel’s or Russ and Daughters are good picks. New York slices. People will say L’Industrie, and for good reason, but personally lining up for a slice seems antithetical to the experience. Joe’s is still great and there are a bunch around that are easy to get into.

Try and catch a show at kings theater and hit up island express. Thank me later.
