  • HAAM in Williamsburg has excellent vegetarian Dominican food. Their mushroom mofongo with plantains is to die for

  • replying to u/Unlikely-Guess3775: Some good options for vegan Latin American, primarily in Brooklyn: * Palenque (Colombian) - the vegan bandeja paisa is incredible, with a delicious stewed jackfruit * HAAM (Pan-Caribbean) - the mofongo and chimichurri steak are awesome. This one is **fully plant-based**, but without any sacrifice to flavors or atmosphere * Trinciti Roti Shop (Trinidadian) - it should be pretty feasible to put together a vegan meal here between the doubles / various veggies with roti * Arepera Guacuco (Venezuelan) - excellent Venezuelan arepa shop with a vegan option on the menu * Beco (Brazilian) - not a ton of options, but 1-2 appetizers and a vegetarian platter that they can probably do vegan. Plus good vibes and drinks * Tabare (Uruguayan) - also not a ton of options, but they have a portobello sandwich, plus good vibes and drinks * Lakou Cafe (Haitian) - also **fully vegan**, but with no sacrifice to flavors. The jerk jackfruit is great

I immediately tried HAAM - so so good! Thanks for this :)

  • I'd recommend HAAM in Williamsburg over this - vegan Caribbean, but very good.
