replying to u/scrubjay98111: If you find yourself in the Bronx for the zoo, NY Botanic Gardens or Met Cloisters - Casa Della Mozzarella and Joe’s Italian Deli on Arthur Ave are great! Also worth checking out sandwiches that (I imagine!) might be harder to come by in the UK like tortas and cemitas (Don Pepe Tortas y Jugos in Sunset Park is great! Cemitas El Tigre in Sunnyside is also quite good, and close to a Filipino donut shop called Kora that I’ve been meaning to check out) or yoyos (a Venezuelan sandwich where the “bread” is smashed and cooked plantains) at Cachapas y Más. Someone else can probably offer suggestions for a great banh mi in Manhattan - I love Em and Pho Viet Nam but both are in South Brooklyn and a trek from where you’ll be! For burgers - a different and equally delicious option is the Xi’an style lamb burger (rou jia mo) with cumin, peppers and onions. Xi’an Famous Foods (multiple locations/local to NYC chain) has a delicious one, and I love the one at Mott Street Eatery in Chinatown as well (get the garlic cucumber salad too! Plus lots of other great stalls in the food court) Hope you all have a really nice trip
