replying to u/BartBeachGuy: People are being harsh and I doubt they’ve even been to half the places you have listed. It’s not a list of uniformly great spots but there are some decent choices. The Elgin is about as good as pub food can be. I’ve gone there a fair amount after work. Food is better there than average. Fogo de Chao happy hour is an amazing bargain. If you’re looking to save money, their any time happy hour at the bar is a good choice. The whole roasted short rib is a standout on the menu. The burger for $10 on a value to quality is actually hard to beat. Yes you can get better but not for the price. Nowon is a good choice along with La Bonne Soupe for French fare without the budget busting price. For the money if you can put up with the wait, go to Via Carota for Italian rather than Becco.

You want to send people from the UK for passable pub food while they’re spending five days in the NYC? “It’s not a list of uniformly great spots”? It’s a list of spots that ranges from the awful to the once ok and now can only get people in with Groupons. In NYC where we have amazing food if they would just spend five more minutes on this board or walk five minutes further, because you want to be an ass to other posters.
