replying to u/gianthamguy: I like how wide a net they cast with this list but I do wonder about some of the methodology. For Jackson heights, they picked birria landia (quality is suffering as it expands) and Dera (one of the most complained about of the famous restaurants here), they can’t be expected to get it all right but it makes me wonder how much of this is about reputation

replying to u/fairlyobservant: Also, Jackson Heights isn’t the best place for Indian food anymore. I think it’s a reputation from 20 years ago. Yea there are a couple of good vegetarian places, and great inexpensive places like Merit Kabab. Everyone showers love on Angel, but I think it’s a bit overrated. The neighborhood has changed. Now Jackson Heights is a center for Tibetan and Nepalese places and some of those Nepalese places also do some Indian dishes.

I have had decent chai at a spot in Murray Hill which I can't remember the name of now... but ya, hard to find for sure. Tho Kolkata chai co in east village and williamsburg has great chai!
