  • replying to u/Readit-on-Redddit: I second that. Not sure why it has such good reviews. Been there a few times and I have really wanted to like it but it’s too oily and nothing special. I have tried a lot of Indian restaurants. Semma is probably the best. However (unfortunately) nyc Indian restaurants don’t come close to London ones. I’m not from London btw

Try PANGAT at home Brooklyn for authentic and great Indian flavour and taste

  • replying to u/willowcat20: I really didn’t enjoy Angel. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and I’ve been having it since I was a kid, so I was super excited for Angel. It was so disappointing — gamey meat, muted flavors. Perhaps I went on an off day? But I really enjoy Atithi, Semma, and Kanyakumari.

  • replying to u/Forking_Shirtballs: The real Indian food is in Jackson Heights. I'll also never not recommend Indian Accent in midtown. It's the US outpost of a mini-chain in Delhi & Mumbai. And it's the only Indian place I've ever been where the fine dining/white table cloth approach yields food that's actually tastier than what you'd get from a street chaat place. Expensive (but not crazy expensive, at least not for NYC), and in my opinion worth it.
