Get the . People say the bread is crustier than Ba Xuyen's, they go heavy on the pate, and they use roast minced pork instead of just cold cuts. They run about $9. People argue about whether Ba Xuyen is better, and plenty still pick that one.

  • replying to u/dinky-park: Nah I’m gatekeeping my spots. I’m not gonna tell you about the cheap but tasty empanada spot in SoHo called Bien Argentino. Won’t also tell you that you can get 2 empanadas and a drink for like $10. Also, who needs to know about Tabonette in the Village on 13th? Who cares about affordable spots in the Village and the fact that you get free chips with your pita sandwich if you dine in? I sure as hell ain’t gonna tell you about the $1 Haitian beef patties that you can get at Immaculee Bakery at Norstrand and Martense Street. No siree. You can forget about my favorite Banh Mi spot in NYC. It’s definitely not Ba Xuyen in Brooklyn

I much prefer Thanh Da's ba mi's to Ba Xuyen. Their bread is crustier and less industrial. Also they are more liberal with the pate.

  • I prefer banh mi from thanh da rather than ba xuyen because they do the roast mince pork meat rather than just the cold cuts.
