  • replying to u/stockscalper: btw if anyone has a recommendation for sandwiches from different regions like LatAm, Africa, Eastern Europe, Mediterrean, Asia (other than Viet banh mi's) -- let me hear it. I eat too many Italian subs because all the online reco's are 80% Italian like Defonte or Parisi

Check out Akara House in Crown Heights for an amazing Nigerian "veggie burger".

  • They have repurposed a Nigerian black eyed pea fritter as the star of their veggie burger, served with an amazing housemade hot sauce.

  • What a glorious sandwich. I was curious at first why the chutney came on the side -- then very quickly learned that that bad boy packs a punch!

  • replying to u/artonion: I know it’s been six months but we were there the other day and it was stellar. One of the better dinners I’ve had in my life for sure. From the first bite to the last. The theme isn’t as clear to me as, say, Noma, but as a culinary experience it’s worth the money.

No shortage of delicious food though. We tried avant garden, but my favorites were beyond sushi, Buddha bodhai, and Akara house.
