The Halal Kitchen

8.6/10Middle Eastern

AI-generated summary

The green sauce is the whole reason people go. It gets called the best in the city, creamy and spicy where other carts run watery. The comes with whole grilled onions and ran about $8, and people say the chicken beats most carts too. It's a truck by Union Square, not a restaurant.

  • replying to u/clistmockingbird: I just used your map while in the city for a few days to find some good carts, I think Halal Kitchen ended up being my favorite but I also really liked Mido's. Keep up the great work!

The green sauce at Halal Kitchen (which I usually don't like) was a game changer

  • If you like green sauce, [Halal Kitchen](https://www.instagram.com/p/CpWInD-vG1T/?img_index=1) also near Union Square has the best by far - it's creamy, spicy, and delicious.

  • replying to u/Unlikely-Guess3775: Good list - a couple of thoughts: \- For bagels, do you intend to go to Leo's or Leo Pizza? Leo Pizza in Williamsburg makes an amazing sourdough bagel on the weekends that they serve with melted beurre de baratte. Super good! \- For pizza, have a slice of potato pie at...you guessed it, Leo. They're actually a spin off of Ops, which I see is also on your list and is great. Farina is the new spot in Gowanus people are talking about at the moment too. Lala's is fun for New Haven style thin pizza served on a rooftop above a brewery in East Williamsburg. Da Radda in the East Village has some interesting Argentinian-style pizzas \- For Chinese, if you want egg tarts, Tai Pan is good as you mentioned, or Fay Da. If you're looking for a dumpling fix, my favorite is Nan Xiang XLB. They have the classic XLB of course as well as very good Shanghainese veg steamed dumplings. Their original location is in Flushing, but they recently opened a branch in Midtown as well \- It's not a halal cart, but the best falafel/shawarma in the city is at Zyara in Astoria. They have a very nice outdoor garden in the back as well

  • replying to u/CinderBK: I tried Indian King in fidi based on your IG rec. Was a block away from my (now former) job. It was by far the best halal I’ve ever had, and seeing there are others even higher rated has me excited. Planning to try the union square carts this week.

you're in for a treat, farook's lamb, santa's chicken, and halal kitchen's green sauce is the holy trifecta.
