Lobel's Prime Meats

6.9/10

AI-generated summary

People call it one of the top butchers in the city and say the prices match, around $70 a pound for bone in ribeye. The is the other reason to go, and the counters at Yankee Stadium and Rockefeller Center get named for it. The topped fries there run about $20.

  • replying to u/PuggleLover11: \+1 for Lobel's. menu pricing has moved a lot generally since the last time i went out for steak but i wouldn't be surprised if lobel's pricing >= what something roughly equivalent would be at a premier steakhouse.

Love Lobel’s but just went to their site - $70.00 a pound for bone in ribeye is not in my budget, unfortunately…..

  • replying to u/NYEDMD: Surprised not to see Lobel’s. Curious as to people’s experiences. Are they just too expensive?

Lobel's is the best. But it is expensive. But they never disappoint. ever.

  • replying to u/RapidDevil85: Just wanted to thank you all for the recommendations. We had a great time in NYC and the food recommendations really helped. We did: Los Tacos #1 Hands down the best food we had in the area. The quesadillas were AMAZING! I thought the steak was best but pork also great. We didn't bother with the other taco place in grand central as if we were having this again, we would have had to come back here. Slice pizza vs $1.50 pizza slice off! It was an interesting battle. Slice had the better crisp on the undercarriage for sure. Probably edged the cheese slice but the pizza with toppings was won by $1.50 in our opinion on taste and significantly better value, anything other than just cheese at Slice was like $5+ but at $1.50 pizza was $2.25 a slice. However, $1.50 was inconsistent. The second time we went it was a different guy in there and it was nowhere near as good. So for cheese slices I'd go to slice pizza and for anything else go to $1.50. Service at Slice was much, much quicker for anything other than a cheese slice. Gourmet 45 Bodega It was a handy place to know about. We had the BEC which honestly, felt very mid, although we have nothing to compare it to. I will say the hot, fresh food by the lb looked absolutely great and would definitely try that if we went again. The coffee there was indeed 'respectable' for a self serve. We had a pecan tart which was great! All in all a really good recommendation. Chelsea Bagles A nice experience here. It seemed expen…

I did a fair bit of research on Yankee Stadium too and OMG, the steak topped fries at lobels? Epic. Sure, it's $20 but honestly so worth it.
