Down the Hatch

6.5/10American

AI-generated summary

Get the wings. One person called them the best in the whole city, right size and right sauce, and the rest of the sub backs that up. The is simple and good, and the quesadillas get mentioned too. It's a dive bar, so people go for the vibe as much as the food.

  • replying to u/Longjumpingjello: Been compiling a list of NYC wings for the past year - Dan & John's is top tier and the only thing that competes with them is Off The Wagon (Greenwich Village). Off The Wagon also has a couple sister restaurants that serve the same wings - Down The Hatch, 3 Sheets, and I forget the others. I've only had Off The Wagon's, but I talked to the bartender and he told me that Down The Hatch actually has better ones. 3 Sheets has a $1 wing Wednesday, not sure if the other spots carry that special. I was at 3 Sheets last week and noticed the wings looked amazing and that's when I realized it's affiliated with Off The Wagon, etc. I'm hitting their wing night tonight and will report back!

those were the BEST wings that I've had anywhere in the whole city. Perfect size, perfect sauce, and a wing quality that you just truly don't see almost anywhere, up there with the best wings I've ever had; rating 9.7!!!
