    replying to u/joe_bibidi: Not super useful as a statement but I'd mention, there's a bunch of neighborhood spots that I think are good but you'll maybe want to check in with specific neighborhood subreddits or even ask about specific areas in the city to get specialists for those neighborhoods rather than asking about the city in general. I'm in Williamsburg for example, I can vouch for IWAK as a great neighborhood spot, very chill, generally easy to get a table, good quality fish. I would not recommend people travel an hour to get to IWAK, it's not a "destination." It's a neighborhood joint with good sushi. Nami Nori, similar boat, and they've got a few locations around. I also just tried Bondi Sushi, also multiple locations; I liked it, it's a solid neighborhood option, I'm pleased with it, I'd definitely go back for the lunch special in particular, it's a pretty good value as far as expensive lunches go. If it takes you time to get to Williamsburg, I would not recommend coming to any of these. That's not the point. But if you're in Williamsburg, these are places that aren't going to get any hype but are still reliable spots.

    “One of my favorite longtime neighborhood spots is closing on June 21st and I just wanted to shout them out. Bozu isn’t traditional, it’s not the most exquisite sushi-oriented restaurant you’ll find in NYC but I have loved going here over the last 15ish years.”
