  • replying to u/miscellaneousfun23: +1 on diners. I believe the city lost half its diners between 1990 and 2015 and so many of the leftovers are straight up bad. The only good diners I can say from eating there are: La Bonbonierre, Joe Jr, Tom's (Prospect Heights), George's (Financial District), Carnegie Cafe.

Squires Diner in the financial district is excellent.

Squires! Definitely can get crowded though and for good reason!

  • replying to u/Chet-Harper: Squires Diner in the financial district is excellent. I think it’s maintained its neighborhood diner feel because it’s sort of within a big apartment complex and you have to know it’s there

Squires is such a hidden gem

Value and consistency are primary. The best diners used to be further flung. But they tge value factor is killing them bcz costs.

    Decent food though
