replying to u/thansal: LES Lunch: Russ & Daughters Cafe. Sit down place for pretty classic NYC Jewish fare. Cured fish in various forms is the thing to eat there. Queens: While Flushing is a great neighborhood for eating in, it's a little meh for exploring I think (like, go look at street view to walk from the 7 train to Shanghai Eats). My permanent suggestion is Jackson Heights(ish). It's one of the most diverse neighborhoods in NYC and my favorite neighborhood to eat in (I'm legit going over for a walking dinner tonight). A very quick, off the cuff, list: * Momo Crave - Nepali dumplings dressed up like other dishes. Sukuti, Sandeko and Chili are my main suggestions (Tandori for the wow factor). * Purple Dough - Filipino Desserts * Fuchka Carts for Bengali street food. * Khao Nom - Thai Desserts (so many!) * Playground, Zaab Zaab, Hug Esan for Isan inflected Thai food. * Antojitos Charly and Birria Landia for street tacos. * Zhego and The Weekender for Bhutanese food That's barely scratching the surface, I've not even mentioned Indian, barely touched on Tibetan, Filipino and Mexican, and limited myself to pretty close to the main subway stop. There're one off options like Bolivian Lama Party and I <3 Paraguay, unique places like Sushi On Me (free flowing sake w/ your unique Omakase?). But also, the worn down "Just eat along the 7 line" is real and something you could do, making your way between different amazing neighborhoods (downtown Flushing included).
