replying to u/crazeman: In the other thread, someone recommended King's Kitchen. IMO that's kind of a "boring" choice because they have a location in every Chinatown (besides for Flushing) so you can probably try them whenever. I usually end up getting the casserole/clay pot dishes over the roasted meats whenever I'm at King's kitchen because there's not that many spots that does clay pot dishes. Personally I like: Ng's Kitchen is a hole in the wall with roasted meats, I think they are particularly good for their roast duck but their other roast meats is also good. They used to be a stall in the Fei Long food court before they closed during COVID. Roast 28 is also pretty good for roasted meats. They used to be in Queens before they moved over to Sunset Park some years back. Hainan Chicken House deserves a shoutout. Their roast pork is more expensive than typical Chinese spots but it's pretty good and taste different. They also use a fattier cut of meat. IMO worth at least a try.

replying to u/joe_bibidi: I've not been to Shun Won specifically but I'd say a trip to Flushing is worth it in general, yeah. There's a ton of amazing food, the variety really is beyond what Manhattan/Sunset Park have to offer. Tons of specific regional cuisines. Flushing Chinatown is the largest Chinatown district in the western hemisphere. People insist the quality is also next-level, though IMO, for a lot of styles the best options in Manhattan/Sunset are fairly similar.

replying to u/_ajli: I need a place that doesn’t serve Cha Siu made from the leanest meat possible. I have yet to find ANY good Cha Siu since I moved to the US. Nothing even close. The meat is always too lean, the sauce is not syrupy / sticky enough and there is never any charring. Don’t get me started on the suckling pig. Tim Ho Wan is also like a budget place back home.
