Le French Tart

7.2/10

AI-generated summary

Get the asiago loaf. People describe it as bread crossed with a cheesy biscuit. The is the other pick, and the whole wheat and mini ones count too. The and the rainbow cookies have fans, and prices stay reasonable. One person thinks everything there is mediocre.

  • replying to u/eldersveld: I swear by the asiago loaf at Le French Tart. Probably for the best that I have to cross the East River to get it lol

The texture tastes like if bread had one grandparent that was a biscuit, and it's sooo cheesy. Very moreish.

  • Le French Tart in Brooklyn has French Butter and it's incredible.

I also got a Croque Monsieur, which was *not good*, so I kept debating whether the bread was actually good or whether I just liked it for it. The asiago loaf did remind me of cheesy biscuits and the only reason I even tried it was because they were out of regular baguettes. Serendipity!

  • replying to u/Dirschel: If you happen to be in Park Slope, Le French Tart!

Also my fave - Le French Tart in South Slope or on Court Street in Carroll Gardens. I like their savory / whole wheat croissants, and they also have mini ones.

  • Le French Tart (they have a few locations in BK) also have whole grain ones that are great.

  • replying to u/CarbCollective: If you need any additional testers from Brooklyn - I’m a life long consumer, lover, appreciator, baker of the (what we Italians call) tricolore cookie. Always searching for the perfect cookie. I would also say for some bakeries there is a lot of inconsistency. Mazzolas used to be a favorite but they really fell off once they renovated/changed it up. Regina’s in Windsor Terrace is a new favorite. Fortunato Brothers is a crime (though their cheesecakes are perfection).

Their rainbow cookies are really good!
