Genesis House

7.2/10Korean

AI-generated summary

It's a house inside a Genesis car dealership at the bottom of the High Line, which throws people off. The Pavilion and library room is where you want to sit, and people say the Korean food and the views hold up. One warning, most of the menu is herbal tisanes rather than actual .

  • replying to u/ChefSuffolk: Genesis House. They never got the hype, they’re more classical and not as modernist as the currently on-trend high-end Korean places. And they’re a restaurant attached to a car dealership, which is… well it makes you question. But damn, they do what they do really well. Nice view, too.

But man, that view, and the food, and every time I've gone it's been quiet and peaceful (only been at lunch times or midafternoon).

  • replying to u/crazeman: Not sure if these places qualify for noon/high tea. [Cha-An](https://www.yelp.com/biz/cha-an-new-york) in East village. Great tea, reasonably priced and delicious desserts. I've personally never had the food there and mostly went there for dessert. The Black Sesame Creme brulee is their signature dish. I also love a good simple Japanese parfait and they make a pretty good one. Maybe [Genesis House](https://www.genesishouse.com/us/en/nyc/index.html) fits the bill? It's above the Genesis car dealership near Chelsea Market. Having tea in the tea pavilion area is a cool vibe. The food was a little too expensive for my blood so I only had tea there. It might fit your $130 pp budget though.

If people are looking to go to Genesis House for tea, just know that a bulk of their menu is tisanes (herbal tea, i.e. not tea-tea). It's an interesting experience, but I wouldn't drink many of them again (my friend and I tried a lot).

  • replying to u/Severe-Month-458: Genesis House. It’s on the west side and inside of their car displays. One of the best Korean meals I’ve ever had.

the food was tasteless and uninspired. Hope they’ve changed but we found it supremely overrated.
