replying to u/fluxdrip: You are close to some solid only-in-new-York options. The original Smith and Wollensky is a quintessential steakhouse - good, touristy, expensive, a fun time if you want the splurge. Or you can go into Grand Central Terminal, and either eat right in the main concourse at Grand Brasserie, or at Grand Central Oyster Bar which is a beautiful historic restaurant with passable solid (but not spectacular) seafood. These are setting-over-substance in both cases but still absolutely worth it with visitors.

Next door to One Vanderbilt, no stairs in the restaurant, it's immediately inside the Vanderbilt Ave. entrance, and has an extensive menu. Also, there is a smallish room at the back - you can be seated there - and it's a bit more quiet than the main seating area.
