    replying to u/thansal: Some particularly uncommon (in NYC) cuisines: * Bolivian Llama Party - While most of their menu is pretty familiar (but fantastic), the Saltemas are pretty damn unique. They're pretty close to an empanada filled with strew. I don't like them myself, but well worth trying. * Zhego NYC for Bhutanese cuisine. Ema datsi (chilies and cheese) is the most famous thing and should be had, after that I really like the dishes w/ pork jerky. * Asian Bowl is one of the few places I know for Burmese, they also do generic Chinese-American takeout. Queens Night Market starts up next month and is the only food 'event' I recommend. Often there's representation there of cuisines that I don't know where else to try them, as well as more uncommon dishes from more common cuisines. They're open ever Saturday (except when the US Open is on) from 4 till midnight, and they cap dishes at $6, so you can eat a great variety of items. Vendors tend to change through the season, so multiple visits is well worth it.

    replying to u/immiz182: Can’t comment on SF vs. NYC Burmese food, but the 3 spots below have some good Burmese food - 1. Little Myanmar in EV 2. Burmese Bites in Elmhurst 3. Amayar Kitchen in Maywood, NJ (obviously out of the city, but a personal favorite)
