replying to u/Snoo-18544: Okay. I live in LES. Japanese is my favorite cuisine. I am only going to give you LES restaurants. Most of these are Japanese owned or operated. 1. Toriya. This is a quality izakaya focusing on skewers like yakitori, kushi katsu and the like. Quite reasonable by NYC standards. They do a full izakaya menu so expect to find things like okonomiyaki etc. 2. Izakaya Juraku - this is a conventional izakaya known for interesting ramens and has some stuff on the menu you rarely see like niku Jaga (Japanese beef stew), open etc. 3. Okiburu - House of Tsukemen. There are many ramen places in LES. But okiburo is by far the best. They know it. They don't do alcohol sales, delivery, to go, reservation. They have two types of noodles and three appetizers on the menu. They are almost always full. This is an expensive part fo Manhattan, most restaurants taking this approach would not be successful. Their food is just that good. 4. Davelle- this is a Japanese coffee shop that does yoshoku lunch sets. Things like katsu curry, mental. Their focus is quality over big menu. You can order in Japanese if you wish. 5. BBF - BBF is a coffee shop by day and sake bar by night. They do a mix of izakaya dishes, udon etc. But the real secret is they have a long term pop up with a former michelin star sushi chef. Now this is no means comprehensive. LES has tons of other Japanese places like cocoran(soba), Ramen Ishida, Ivan Ramen, Nakamura, Ushiwakumaru. It's right next to east village…
